Pg Technics Music Band-in-a-box 25 For Mac
Hi I'm fairly new to garageband2 having had an iMac G5 for only a few weeks. I'm interested in using garageband for composition as I think the sounds are great from it. In the past, I've used software like Band In A Box for putting songs together with melodies and backing. Looking at garageband, what you have is the loop.
Now I can place, for example, a piano loop in C for a few bars, then I can place the same loop transposed up +5 to give me an F, but this still doesn't feel right. Say I wanted to do a standard C-F-G bash, I'm struggling to do it in GB and I thought it would have been somewhat more difficult than in BIAB but I'm making no headway at all. I have the GB1 Missing Manual but this goes into no more detail on this subject. I do play keyboard and guitar so I can do melodies or other bits and bobs and I read music. I just can't fathom how to do what I want in GB2.
Sorry for the long post, any help would be much appreciated. Well, that's how I do it, anyway. I have no other midi experience. I noticed right away that a loop in 'C' when transposed to 'F' for a I IV V progression didn't sound right, because a keyboard player would not play the same thing up, but rather would find those notes in the are of the keyboard he was already at, but in a different voicing.

So, I started to either play it myself on my keyboard if it was simple enough for me (a non-keyboard player) or I'd edit the notes in the editor, which I found easier for the most part. If you have an easy way to generate a midi file you can import to GB, then that sounds reasonable. Apple Footer.
