I'm a member of my university formula student team and this year we decided to do something different to our bodywork design. In previous year we made a very simple nose cone design and a couple of aluminium sidepanels.
The car looked similar to this: This year, however, we might be able to design and manufacture slightly more complex shapes and I was wondering if anyone has any decent tutorials on how to handle the surfaces in solidworks? Most of the youtube guides seem to be utilising the method of surfacing, but, for obvious reasons, I don't have the blueprints of our bodywork. Any suggestions or advices on how to model a decent looking bodywork? How I do surfacing is using sketches or a picture. Take a picture of the side, top and front of the car (or previous years car chassis) or do a sketch of what you want. Import them into solidworks and use the surfacing tutorials to help you.
